Q. Are you the same as Leominster Pop Warner?
A. No. We are an alternative to the local Pop Warner league. We are a chartered member of American Youth Football. We are known as Leominster Youth Football. We are part of the largest youth football organization in the world, with over 600,000 members.
Q. What is American Youth Football?
A. American Youth Football Inc., (AYF), established in 1996, is an international youth football organization established to promote the wholesome development of youth through their association with adult leaders in the sport of American football. Rules and regulations are established to ensure that players play in an atmosphere of safety with a competitive balance between teams. American Youth Football is on a mission to GIVE BACK to the community. The NFL recognizes this firm commitment and AYF has been made a national youth partner of the National Football League. AYF is the fastest growing youth organization in America,has grown to over 600,000 members with leagues in all 50 states, Canada, Mexico, Western Europe, and Asia.
Q. Where will home games and practices be held?
A. We are working in cooperation with Leominster High School and have received permission to use the fields behind the high school for both games and practices. We have also secured an indoor facility for the cheerleaders to practice in the colder months. Coming end of 2010 - first quarter of 2011 we have some new developments.
Q. Are there weight ranges in the football program?
A. AYF has both an age/weight division and an unrestricted grade based division. New for 2010- all of Central Mass AYF which includes Leominster has gone to unrestricted weight - all school grade based.
Q. What towns do you compete against.
A. We will be competing against a lot of the local towns. The towns included in the Central Mass. Conference are Ayer/Shirley, Clinton, Hudson, Leicester/Spencer, Lunenburg, Marlborough, Nashoba, Westford/Littleton, Worcester Cowboys, Charlton / Dudley, Groton/Dunstable, Maynard, Milford, NIPMUC, Tyngsboro, Shrewsbury and Fitchburg.
